What is a country? It is a geographically defined territory, with people in it, that has one government that governs the people residing in that territory. The people are usually of the same or of an intermixed tribes with a history of intermarriage, cultural exchange, trade exchange, religious tolerance, similarity in ideology of life, similarity in cuisine, intermixed language, knowledge of each others background and history and the like. It can be said that it is the land, the people and the history married together that makes a country a country.
Although it is convincing in ideology it is something that can raise a lot of question philosophically on its legitimate existence. it is notoriously unstable meaning to say part of a land and people that was part of one country yesterday may break out on its own or join other country in the future. This kind of thing happens all the time and has happened constantly throughout history. It is also one of the major causes of war in the history of human kind. Held as sacred by the majority of human population, it is one of the most sensitive and chaos triggering thing in the world.
But should there be countries or should the world just be one? Even though it may seem impossible today, the probability that there will be one world rather than a world divided up into many different countries in the future is extremely high. In fact one may argue that that is the inescapable future of the world. If brought up to discussion, philosophically it is a very controversial issue weather we should have a geographical separation or not. In the world where we live today, many part of the population of the world is racially intermixed. Also philosophically it is very hard and almost impossible to get a solid unbreakable ideological backbone for the idea of a country as we know it today. There are some reasons for one to say that there should be countries and also other reasons for one to say that there shouldn't.
Reasons why there should be countries and why there shouldn't be
Reasons for why there should
be countries
|
Reasons for why there should only
be one world
|
It creates difference and
difference is good. With difference arises competition and colorfulness
|
There
would be a lot less conflicts as a whole that arises when a country wants to
keep its interest that is in contrast to others. This actually is a very
big deal considering that we are living in a nuclear age and this should be given
major points
|
Reservation of culture and traditions.
One can progress and inbetter ones own culture which may lead to a very
different direction from the other which is good because diversity is always
good and there is power in diversity.
|
There
would be equal opportunity for all human kind
|
If there is only one world the
system may be imperfect and may not be suitable due to human errors and
greed. So if that happens there would not be another alternative and hope
whereas there would be if there are other different countries with different
systems.
|
A
system can be created so that every culture would be preserved and there
still could be one world and also with the intermix of cultures another
culture that is different would evolve.
|
Selected people get to keep their
way of life with their own governance with the people of their kind.
|
Ideas
would be enriched a lot more as ideas from around the world can come together
as one.
|
There would be significantly less
chaos created if discrimination and unfairness arises towards certain groups,
race and religious entities.
|
Outlooks
of many would broaden tremendously as they would be able to move around and
see a world outside of their own enclosed one.
|
There would be a sense of
ownership of the country by the citizens and initiation to keep and develop the country.
|
The
probability of a nuclear war would be significantly less and hence the
probability of the annihilation of civilization or even human race.
|
It would be a lot harder for
terrorists to move anywhere they want.
|
The
intelligence and the quality of the human race would improve as it is
scientifically proven that interbreeding produces genetically superior breed.
